Research and Workshops

As a scholar, my research focus is on public health, global health, infectious and communicable diseases. My research is focused on HIV and treatment outcomes of HIV among immigrants.

Past Workshops and Consultations

World AIDS day – HIV & Immigration

Presented a workshop for service providers – health care workers, pharmacists, psychologists, social workers, settlement workers and various program coordinators who provide care to immigrants and refugees living with HIV. The workshop addressed various barriers faces by newcomers when accessing HIV care and how to address some of these barriers to improve treatment outcomes.

Immigrant and Refugee Health Panel

I presented some research findings from interviews with service providers working with newcomers living with HIV to the Population Health Class of Second Year Medical School Students at the University of Manitoba. As part of the speaker panel, I introduced general principles and important aspects of providing medical care to immigrants and refugees living with HIV.
